Black Bear Inn University Inn Orono Summer Wedding
Katie and Doug

Katie and Doug’s perfect wedding day began with clear skies as the girls got ready at Black Bear Inn in Orono. Some of my favorite parts of the wedding day include when I first arrive and see the bride getting ready. Katie looked so beautiful, glowing even! We headed over to University Inn just a few miles away to get her into her dress and see her Father walk her down the long flower-lined walkway to the gazebo along the Stillwater river. It was the perfect spot. With a little bit of party music and dancing to wear off the nerves Katie was more than ready to see her handsome groom and start their lives together.

Doug seemed very calm and looked very handsome as his mom pinned his boutonniere, they were all smiles! The florals were something that they had found online, made out of wood and just gorgeous! He arrived in style in the golf cart and I heard the driver wish him luck today and congratulated him. With a promise to love each forever and a nice long kiss (a photographer’s dream) to seal the deal we were off to the reception at University Inn.

The Bride and Groom danced the night away with their friends and family with so much love an laughter surrounding them. The age old debate is where the Whoopie Pie originated from, Maine or Pennsylvania? Well the Bride is from Maine and the Groom is from Pennsylvania so you can guess how the debate goes! With the advice of the last couple that was married for 34 years left on the dance floor during the Anniversary Dance, the debate should be settled. The husband said “Whatever she says”! SO there you have it the Whoopie pie originated in Maine!!

All kidding aside, I cannot say enough about how in love and adorable these two sweethearts are together. They make the world a nicer, kinder place. Their friends and family love them fiercely and have their backs at all times. The toasts by the groom’s brother, the best man, was very tender along with their friend Bri’s and Doug’s Groomsmaid, Merrit. I got choked up listening the sweet things they had to say about the newlyweds.

It was a fantastic day and I enjoyed my time so much with Katie and Doug! Thank you for trusting me and giving me the full creative reins on your day! I am so incredibly happy for you both and your families. Congratulations, Mr and Mrs Lauver!
